Changing lives through transitional employment

The Women's Bean Project in Denver, Colorado, is committed to helping women struggling to find or maintain employment. The program offers a transitional employment program, where the participants start as production assistants making and packaging Women's Bean Project products. They sell beautifully packaged soup, baking mixes, snacks, instant meals, coffee, tea, spice blends, and gift boxes.

During the program, the employees take classes while receiving extensive support from the Women's Bean Project team members. It helps women get back on their feet and regain their independence, and they receive full-time wages regardless of whether they are working on the production line or learning in the classrooms.

"The people at Women's Bean Project have given me that hope. They have provided a safe space for me to learn, grow and change. My mentor, who I meet with once a week, has given me the language to talk about my past to potential employers—addressing it openly and communicating my commitment to change. Most of all, I now have the confidence to accomplish goals, advocate for myself, and to focus on a long-term career, not just a "job"." - Rebecca, Program Participant
